Ground breaking took place today in the snow.
The honour of putting the first shovel on the ground went to Lou Biggeman the RDN area representives accompanied by Joe Stanhope and Dave Bartram

 

Members of the Dashwood Fire Department, the Meadowood Steering Committee were also present together with Nancy Avery & Carol Mason from the RDN

Work on the Fire Hall Construction site commenced today February 12th, 2009

The Construction Site is off limits to all unless permission has been granted by the Site Superintendent and you must be wearing full safety gear. Hard Hat, Hi-Vis Clothing and Steel Toed Boots as per WCB.

 





   

Work on site was held up due to weather conditions the contractors were supposed pour concrete for the walls today but this has been delayed 24 hrs



 

 

 

All under ground plumbing and electrical conduits within the building structure are now in place as of Friday 6th of March.
The sewer lines and other lines were filled with water for testing with the aid of the fire department tanker truck.

Monday 9th March, the first of two loads of the steel building arrived today, the remainder finally arrived mid-afternoon Wednesday March 11th.


Erection of Steel Frame work commenced mid-afternoon Thursday 12th March.


While the erection of the steel work continues entrance to the site has been move
approx 60 feet west, to provide level entry onto the road.
Next will be the re-alignment of the road within the site.

Re-alignment of road started on Monday 23rd, March

New Access Road completed Tuesday 24th, March.


 However at the end of June we had to lower the road to match the front forecourt.

 

     

Grading of the site slopes commenced to day Saturday 14th, March

   
     

It snowed again over Sunday and Monday night 15/16th March,
 

Framing of the wood section started today Monday 23rd, March

Steel Erectors commence installing the walls to-day Wednesday 25th, March


The plastic membrane for water proofing the floor, then the re-bar mat is being put into place.

The floor is honeycombed with electrical conduits, note the grey plastic lines.

This means nothing can be bolted down to the concrete floor.

Pouring of concrete for the finishing of the floors of the Meeting Rm & upstairs room.
The truck bay floors pouring will happen to-morrow.

The Concrete work inside the building is now completed and
 framing has commenced on the stairs and also the washrooms

Installation of window shutters these will protect all windows.

The brown trim on the Right-hand side
is the base for the wall cladding

       

It may appear that construction has stopped but work is proceeding with the plumbing and electrical wiring.

Outer man doors have finally arrived on the 7th May however they have windows in them and should be solid for security reasons.

Installation of Truck Bay doors has now been completed and awaiting for the operating gear to make them electrically operated with manual over ride in the event of power failure.

There is still lots of work to be done on this tank before it can become operational.
     

Getting the old blanks off in which the bolts were well rusted in place and then cleaning up all the extra protrusions.

 

Foundation slab poured for the Tanker Filling Pump expected on site about 21st June.
Water tank has received it's first coat of primer paint today July 4th

 the other will feeding the fire pump

The Tank compound now has fencing post concreted into the ground plus security straps

Excavating for Hydro and Telus Ducts

BC Hydro inspected the cable ducts this afternoon 5th May and
gave permission for back filling from the building.

Main power supply and breaker boards for the building.

June 12th, BC Hydro was on site pulling in the new main cable

Communication is very important, hence the need for a radio antenna
to connected to #1 Fire Hall, Trucks & North Island 911

and also to provide protection to the Septic Field to be installed next Tuesday.
